Commissioned by Taylor Thompson, Zeemeeuw is a short character piece for solo clarinet written as part of my project to take on “mini-commissions” for unaccompanied works during the spring and summer of 2020.

The title comes from the Dutch word for “seagull”, inspired by the dedicatee’s time studying at the Belgian Clarinet Academy at the Conservatorium aan Zee in Oostende, Belgium.
