On Solitary Fields

Commissioned by Tyler Thomason, On Solitary Fields is a short rhapsody for solo tenor trombone written as part of my project to take on “mini-commissions” for unaccompanied works during the spring and summer of 2020. 

This piece makes extensive use of quarter tones as ornamentation, granting it a natural, vocal quality full of expression and emotion.
